When people think about software startups, they picture Colombo, Bangalore, or Silicon Valley. Jaffna rarely comes up. But that's exactly where I decided to build something — and here's the real, unfiltered story of how DigitxCode (Pvt) Ltd was born.
Where It All Started
I'm Suvithan — Founder and CEO of DigitxCode (Pvt) Ltd, a software development company based in Jaffna, Northern Sri Lanka. I started this not because the timing was perfect, but because I was tired of working for others and wanted to build something that was truly mine.
DigitxCode was already registered under Sri Lankan private company law before I had a full roadmap. The name came first. The plan came after. And honestly? That order worked.
Your city doesn't limit you. The internet does not care if you're from Jaffna or San Francisco. Execution matters more than geography.
Why I Founded DigitxCode
I'm a web developer and digital marketer by trade. I've built websites for hotels, business consultancies, and UAE-based firms. I've managed SEO campaigns, written long-form content, handled server maintenance, and worked across multiple industries — all while being employed under someone else's brand.
The reason I started DigitxCode was simple: self-employment and ownership. I wanted to own my work, choose my clients, and build a brand in Jaffna that could compete globally. Sri Lanka has exceptional engineering talent — especially in the North — and we deserved our own company, not just outsourcing contracts.

Building the Tech Stack & Website
The DigitxCode website (digitxcode.com) runs on a modern JAMstack infrastructure — deployed on Vercel with Cloudflare for DNS and performance. I set up Google Search Console, submitted the sitemap, and worked through the technical SEO layer before focusing on content.
Getting indexed on Google as a new domain from Sri Lanka took patience. The strategy was straightforward: solid robots.txt, clean sitemap, structured schema markup, and consistent content. No hacks. Just doing the fundamentals correctly.
The Real Challenge: Getting Clients from Jaffna
The hardest part wasn't the code. It wasn't the company registration either. The hardest part was getting the first client to trust a brand-new company from a city that most global businesses have never heard of.
My approach was three-pronged. First, I leveraged existing relationships — businesses I'd worked with before. Hotels, consultancies, and firms who already trusted my work as an individual were the natural first clients. Second, I focused on freelance platforms like Fiverr and Upwork to build international credibility. Third, I targeted Sri Lankan university students who needed final year project guidance — a fast, word-of-mouth channel.
5 Things Running DigitxCode Taught Me
- Geography doesn't define you. The internet does not care if you're from Jaffna or San Francisco. Execution matters more than location.
- Start services, then build products. Service revenue funds product development. Don't try to build a SaaS on day one with no cash flow.
- SEO is a long game. Getting your company website to rank takes 3–6 months of consistent effort. Start early, not when you desperately need it.
- Your personal brand matters. In a market like Jaffna, people hire who they trust. Being known in your community is a genuine asset.
- Documentation is underrated. Proposals, SOWs, and project documentation build client confidence and protect you legally.
Where DigitxCode Is Headed
The short-term focus is building a strong client portfolio and establishing DigitxCode as the go-to software development company in Jaffna. The medium-term goal is expanding to serve international clients — particularly in the UAE, UK, and Southeast Asia — through targeted digital marketing and platform presence.
Longer term, we want DigitxCode to be a product company. We're already exploring SaaS ideas rooted in problems we've seen firsthand working with clients in hospitality, professional services, and business setup. When the right product-market fit emerges, we'll be ready.
